A round up of Digi-Cluster

On Thursday 12th July, the Digi-Cluster summer party took place in Kings Langley and what an event it was.

Digi-Cluster is the leading digital meetup for agency owners across Watford and Hertfordshire. The discussion centres on the future of digital and technology and we always welcome some amazing guest speakers. There’s always plenty of food on offer and a chance to network with like-minded business owners in the Hertfordshire digital scene.

The evening began as normal with drinks and networking but instead of the usual beer and pizza, we opted for pimms and BBQ food. The weather was on our side and enabled us to use the beautiful garden at Clock’s offices.

Introductions …

Syd Nadim, Clock, and co-founder of Digi-Cluster introduced the event and gave Tom Kingham, Nimbus Hosting (our sponsors), an intro. Tom explained a bit about Nimbus and what they do.

“Nimbus Hosting is a UK based company with a friendly and dedicated team providing high quality Linux and Windows cloud web hosting specifically for agencies who provide hosting to their clients. Specialising in agency web hosting, Nimbus provides 5 star expertise with the content management systems WordPress, Drupal and Magento. Supporting our mission to make web hosting simple and fast for our agency clients, Nimbus recently released our brand-new cloud hosting STORM, which we believe stands alone as the only web management platform targeted specifically at agencies and freelancers.”

Next up were our two 90 second pitches …

The aim of the 90 second pitches is to showcase different businesses in attendance at the event and open up opportunities for conversation when networking later in the evening.

We had the brilliant Shane McEvoy, Flycast Media, who gave us an insight into the company.

“For more than 26 years Flycast Media has been helping small and medium size businesses get more leads, improve ROI and engage with MORE customers through the internet. We’ve helped dozens of clients get more for less with digital marketing strategies that have proven to work time and again. They trust us and we keep them happy, and we’d love to help you too. We support both Watford FC and FC Augsburg in equal measure because, like them, we have a cosmopolitan team and also because we love the courageous underdog.”

We then had the amazing Matthew Cawthorne, The Alternative Board.

“The Alternative Board (TAB) believes that every business owner has the right to expect that their business can deliver for them what they want out of life. But it’s easy to lose sight of this and let the day-to-day realities of running their business take over.”

Steve Godwin, WUWO Media and E.O.B Esports Academy, and Nick Plews, The Princes Trust, gave us a fantastic insight into the work they have been doing together. E.O.B Esports Academy is a new Esports Academy that builds confidence and provides a qualification, then connects young people to employment. It’s all about 7-30-year-old males and females, from all backgrounds working together to push each other to the next level.

Pick a winner …

We left a box on the main table for business cards to be put in and at the end of evening we drew a name. The fantastic Louise Towler, Indigo Tree had her name picked out and she won a bottle of champagne!

Food glorious food …

The BBQ was next up and the food was amazing! From crisps, dips and olives, burgers, seafood platters and halloumi to cake, fruit platters and doughnuts, it’s pretty safe to say that all food bases were covered and there was plenty to go around. It was great to see everyone enjoying the evening and new relationships being formed.

The party went on way into the evening where it was carried on in the disco room at Clock offices, complete with disco lights!

What an amazing evening. The feedback we have had from this event has been brilliant and we look forward to the next one!

Big special thanks to:

  • Nimbus Hosting for sponsoring the evening

  • Rod Wynne-Powell for taking lots of photographs

  • J B Cole and Clock teams for organising, setting up and everything in between

Our next event will be some time in September, we are just confirming dates so will let you know as soon as we can.
