The responsibilities for this role include; building world-class and high performing websites, creating clean lightweight code, leading a team of developers, creating and refining website specifications and resolving technical issues. 

You should have extensive experience in building websites from scratch and an in-depth knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: Javascript and PHP. You must also have extensive experience working with WooCommerce and WordPress CMS. Ultimately, you will ensure our websites and systems are up and running to cover both internal and customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Identify user and system requirements for websites and applications
  • Identify and steer development best practices for company-wide frontend and WP approach
  • Be responsible for the standards and quality control of our frontend code
  • Work with team leads to create functional specifications ahead of project commencement
  • Oversee and liaise on hosting, maintenance and backup processes and best practice
  • Write or review code for various websites and web applications
  • Running functionality testing, snagging and debugging code
  • Oversee and support junior developers and evaluate their performance over time
  • Liaise with UX/UI team to decide on visual direction
  • Ensure website and software documentation is kept up-to-date and accurate
  • Report ideas and concepts for client improvements to the projects team
  • Collaborate with project teams and developers to build mobile-responsive eCommerce websites
  • Prioritise web and software development projects, set timelines and assign tasks to others
  • Communicate with internal team members, clients and third parties at a technical level

Requirements

  • Strong work experience as a WordPress Developer across multiple types of projects
  • Expertise in Javascript (React & Angular) and PHP 
  • Solid knowledge of maintenance / support control and establishing best practice
  • Solid knowledge of working with WooCommerce, WordPress, creating custom plugins and widgets
  • Solid knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Advising on and guiding DevOps best practices
  • Understanding of security practices
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance, hosting and backup procedures 
  • The ability to work alongside and support external development teams 
  • Familiarity with network diagnostics tools
  • Team management skills
  • An outside of work interest in emerging technologies
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with solid technical writing abilities
