Tell us a bit about yourself…
“I’m originally from a small village in County Durham called Coxhoe, but I moved to Leeds to study at Leeds Metropolitan University (now Leeds Beckett) in 2012-my degree was in Computer Forensics. Throughout my time at university, I was part of the Leeds Met Boxing Team.”
How did you end up in Web Development?
“I first started enjoying development work at university and during my final year for my dissertation, I decided to teach myself python and use it to create a forensics web tool. This helped me to find my first job after university as a Cyber Officer for WYP. I used my programming skills a lot there and this ultimately led to my current career path.”
What are your hobbies, passions, and dreams?
“I have a number of hobbies surrounding fitness, such as swimming three or four times a week. I’ve recently started doing some yoga once a week too. Although I don’t get a chance to do it as regularly as I’d like, my favourite hobby is definitely boxing- whether that’s sparing or spending time with a punching bag. Golf is fun too!
This year I went skiing for the first time in France with some friends and luckily managed not to break any bones which is a success considering how clumsy I am. I’ve got big plans to learn to snowboard before my return next year. Some of my dreams include travelling China and more widely Asia, as I’m really interested in the history surrounding the Great Wall, Terracotta Army, and the Emperor Tombs. That would be amazing!”
